This is an excellent launch site from a public town beach on the western bank. There’s a good shallow area for teaching beginners and a protected area for the kids. Ship traffic can come pretty close to shore so be careful. There’s parking right by the beach. Good on a N-NE and SW-SE. Reached from Route 9W. Appropriate for beginners. Park alongside the dirty beach but avoid the area for the boaters which has a $15 fee. Rig & LaunchRig on grass but launch from the dirty beach. Launch tenders watch the action on the water during warmer months. WarningsLocated on the eastern shore in a dramatic bend in the river, most of the bay is outside the commercial shipping channel.
